Close-Up Movie Posters

Categories: Art | Custom | Design

This project started off with Guyver – one of my all-time favourite anti-heroes. I just wanted to make a badass close-up poster of him. Once I saw how powerful that close-up looked. One poster led to another, and soon I found myself creating faces from movies I’d love to see or reboots that, in my opinion, need to happen.

I didn’t overthink which characters would work best, I just went with whatever popped into my head. It was so much fun tweaking, playing with lighting, editing flaws in Photoshop, and “Teaching” my Flux model what these characters look like using reference photos. It’s a lot of work that goes into something like this.

Every poster in this series is about focusing on the face, using close-ups to add drama and pull the viewer into the character’s world. For non-human characters like Venom: Dark Evolution & TMNT: The Last Ronin, I went all out with textures and shadows to make them feel larger than life. When I moved to human characters, I wanted them to wear “masks” so it’s not just a boring face (like in Dredd and Money Heist).

These posters are a mix of “what if” and “why not?” I just wanted to capture the excitement of films we may never see. And yes, I know there’s already a Venom movie, but I’m picky. I wanted my version to have more grit, especially in the eyes, to make him feel even more monstrous.

This whole project was a reminder that sometimes, the coolest creations come from just playing around and letting the imagination take over.
