About

Hey, I’m Justin Wiggins, based in Pretoria, South Africa. This site is my creative space where I share personal projects, experiments and ideas. If you are looking for professional work, my business, Graphic Magic, is where I design websites, branding, and visuals for clients who want their ideas to come to life properly.
My Creative Beginnings
Since I was 8 years old, I have been fascinated by magic tricks, inspired by David Copperfield, who I had the chance to meet during one of his shows in South Africa.
What I do is all about creating moments of surprise. The tricks I perform are based on sleight of hand, built through hours of practice until they become second nature. A lot of that practice happened in front of the TV, repeating the same moves until muscle memory took over. Not the most glamorous training montage, but it gets the job done.
For me, it was never about fooling people, it was about entertaining them. Bringing a sense of wonder, getting a reaction, and creating a moment people remember. That same thinking carries into my design work today. The best results feel simple on the surface, even though a lot is happening behind the scenes.
A Versatile Film Industry Career
My obsession with movies grew into a career. I worked on a range of projects, from Leon Schuster films to international productions filmed locally.
I co-founded MadRobot, a product placement company that helped brands appear naturally in films. Think of something like a Subway Sandwich in a movie scene. When done right, it feels like part of the story rather than an interruption. We also ran a film extras division, supplying talent for films and television.
During this time, I worked across multiple areas, including poster design, editing, props, and investor presentations. I also contributed to editing several films and served as executive producer on "Eintlik Nogal Baie".
It was a hands-on environment where you learn quickly, adapt constantly, and solve problems as they come up. Sometimes all in the same day.
Entrepreneurial Ventures
I co-founded Baardman, a beard oil company, where I handled packaging design, social media, and online orders.
It gave me a solid understanding of what it takes to build a brand from the ground up and connect with an audience. Although I am no longer involved, I left it in good hands and I am proud of what we created.
Rediscovering My Passion
Despite my time in the film industry, I found myself wanting more creative control and variety. That led me back to my first love, graphic and web design.
In 2018, I started Graphic Magic. It gave me the freedom to focus on creating clean, effective design that helps clients communicate clearly and stand out.
Conquering My Daily Battle with Tinnitus
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with severe tinnitus, a constant ringing in the ears that can make things like sleep a challenge.
Instead of letting it slow me down, I found that focusing on creative work helps manage it. Staying productive has been the most effective way to deal with it, even if it means my schedule is sometimes unconventional.
It is not ideal, but it has pushed me to be more disciplined and focused in how I work.
Working from Home
I work from home, which allows me to stay productive and available for my clients. It also means faster turnaround times and fewer delays caused by unnecessary travel.
I prefer online meetings because they are more efficient and flexible. Most meetings that require travel can be handled quicker and more clearly online, which keeps projects moving forward without wasting time.
I also share my workspace with my girlfriend, Christi le Roux, a talented artist who creates watercolour pet portraits. Being in a creative environment like that naturally pushes both of us to keep improving.
