From Skeptic to Fan: How “The Bear” Inspired My Latest T-Shirt Design

Categories: Custom | Design

After seeing the trailer for The Bear, I thought it was definitely not my thing. Next thing I knew, everyone was raving about it again, and curiosity got the best of me.

Boy, was I wrong! It’s really a masterclass in storytelling and cinematography. It kept me hooked because you never know what you’re going to get in the next episode. Let’s say season two definitely upped the game with introducing a new and very slick logo of the restaurant; I could not stop thinking about it.

The logo was clean, bold, and somehow managed to perfectly embody the show’s gritty yet refined vibe. Naturally, I wanted it on a t-shirt. With no luck online finding a vector file, I made up my mind that I was going to take matters into my own hands. Made a screenshot from a blue poster and one from the show itself; the logo doesn’t get a whole lot of time on screen, but it really stuck with me.

So, with those screenshots in my hand, I redesigned the logo; I redrew it, tweaking it until it was just right.

I just played around with different t-shirt colors and so far, I kind of have a liking for the grey one. The design process is always stepping back for a day or so to let the mind clear before a final decision.

It’s like letting the design marinate until it reaches peak flavor.

After I’m settled on the perfect color shirt, I will transfer the design to Christi for her to work her magic with the vinyl cutter. I’ve already placed the order for the shirts, and I can’t wait to see the final product.

It is funny how the show I was just about to skip ended up introducing a new design project. If you haven’t watched The Bear yet, I highly recommend it.
