Lifesize Busts of my Personal Heroes

Categories: 3D Printing | Art | Custom | Featured

There’s a whole world of lifesize busts that people collect, showcasing incredible craftsmanship and creativity. If you’re curious, a quick search on YouTube will give you a glimpse into this fascinating hobby.

I recently came across a video of a T-800 lifesize bust that completely blew me away.

And while these larger-than-life collectables dominate the movie, comic, and anime world, I couldn’t help but wonder: what about the real heroes? Not just the fictional saviours, but the thinkers, visionaries, and creators who’ve truly shaped the world.

At first, I thought I was going to make them all Lifesize “Bronze” Busts because this is how “important people” are always displayed, so I first made these tests:

But decided to go with the Terminator bust look. which simple as it sounds with today’s AI, especially if you want to achieve an accurate likeness but also still have that lifesize bust skin texture. It involves collecting hundreds of images, training a machine learning model, and spending countless hours testing, tweaking, and perfecting the details.

Nikola Tesla, for instance, was one of the toughest. With so few images available, I had to trick my models by flipping angles, using depth maps, and refining every tiny feature to capture his likeness. It was a monumental task, but I couldn’t stop once I started. Each face, the clothing they wear and the background became a story, and each bust a tribute.

I also felt obligated to write something about them, sharing their stories and what makes them so significant to me.
