Bringing the F1 Tracks Home: 3D Printing Fun for My Dad

When your dad’s a massive F1 fan, you know the excitement that fills the room when race day rolls around. To celebrate his passion, I’ve been 3D printing the 2021 tracks as wall décor, turning our home into a miniature racing circuit!

It wasn’t just a quick print-and-play project either. I meticulously redrew each track to exact specifications before importing them into a 3D program, extruding them, and exporting the final designs to STL files. Then came the precision measuring to ensure everything looked flawless on the wall, with every circuit matching the right scale and size. The steady hum of the 3D printer was my soundtrack for the past few days as the tracks came to life, curve by curve and chicane by chicane.

I even whipped up a mini trailer with all the cinematic flair to add a touch of drama to the reveal. There’s nothing like a bit of extra pizzazz to make my dad smile as big as Schumacher crossing the finish line.
