I Snuck a Personal Easter Egg into Leon Schuster’s Movie

During my time in the film industry, I designed a wide range of things, from posters to websites to advertisements. But my absolute favorite projects are those where I get to design something that appears directly in the film. These props always offer an opportunity for a bit of playful mischief—a hidden detail known as an “easter egg.”

In a project for a Leon Schuster film, I was tasked with creating a fictional brand called “Flingos,” which appeared multiple times throughout the movie. The design had to be printed and wrapped around TEX Chocolates. Naturally, I snuck in a personal easter egg: the barcode was my phone number!

A special shoutout to Wynette Theart and Gerlia Groenewald for wrapping these gems for the film.

I’ve done this for a couple of movies and will share more after I get permission.
